Cultural Site, BMA Panel, and the British Museum

Cultural Site Project Visit
We had a chunk of time this morning before the British Medical Association (BMA) panel in the afternoon, so we went to visit the Royal College of Physicians Museum for our cultural site project. If you would like to see more about our cultural site, click here to view our presentation.
BMA Panel
During this panel, we learned a lot about the BMA, what it stands for, who it represents, and how it responds to certain matters, specifically in the realm of public health. My favorite topic we discussed was the junior doctor strikes. The BMA represents England’s physicians, so as a union and organization, they were fully supporting the junior doctors as they protested for higher pay. The panel featured a junior doctor and he discussed how the NHS is expecting them to “do more with less.” Junior doctors recently do not feel valued and from where I’m sitting, I see that too, so I support their strikes along with the BMA. I hope to see that they reach an agreement at some point that improves their pay and working conditions; I will definitely be following this story from America.

British Museum
The British Museum was our last stop as a group on Tuesday. This museum was massive and had so many amazing and interesting exhibits and artifacts. They have a piece of the original Rosetta Stone on display, as well as a huge room dedicated to ruins and artifacts from the Parthenon, which was actually one of my favorite spots in the whole museum. We only spent a couple hours at the museum before they closed, but I think had I went back later in the week, I could have spent a whole day exploring.
